candles got quiet.
we got loud.
Candles had become a little too well behaved.
Beige boxes. Neutral glass. Everything designed to quietly blend in. Beautiful, maybe. But rarely something you'd obsess over.
Not really our thing.
Meanwhile, beauty was having all the fun.
The products we use every day became things we wanted to leave out, photograph, collect and talk about. Perfume became part of an outfit. Skincare took over the bathroom shelf. Getting ready became a ritual worth romanticising.
We started wondering why home fragrance couldn't feel like that too.
So Olive takes a beauty approach to fragrance for the home.
Bold colour. Sprayed glass. Addictive scent. Campaigns that look more like something from your beauty feed than a furniture catalogue. Candles made to live next to your perfume, skincare and favourite things, not disappear into the background.
And we don't think candles are only for cosy nights in.
Light one while you're getting ready. While you're working. Before everyone comes over. The morning after. Or just because it looks bloody good sitting there.
We're bringing the energy, desirability and collectability of beauty into home fragrance.
Consider this the beautification of home fragrance.
somewhere between Cyprus and London.
Olive started somewhere between two worlds.
The energy, creativity and pace of London, and the warmth, colour and slower rituals of Mediterranean life.
Cyprus was part of the inspiration from the beginning. Long lunches that turn into late nights. Sun-warmed skin. Open windows. Getting ready with nowhere particularly urgent to be. The little rituals that make an ordinary day feel like a holiday.
That feeling found its way into Olive.
Not in the obvious way. You won't find olive branches on everything or scents named after Greek islands. For us, the Mediterranean has always been more of a feeling than a destination.
Warmth. Colour. Pleasure. Ritual. Escapism.
And while that's where Olive began, it isn't where we stop.
A hotel in New York. Après-ski in the Alps. A summer somewhere you can't quite remember the name of. A night in London that went on much longer than planned.
Olive is inspired by the places, memories and moments you wish you could go back to.
Mediterranean is where we began. Escapism is what Olive is.
made for the moments you wish you could bottle.
A holiday you still talk about. The hotel you'd go back to tomorrow. Après-ski drinks that became dinner. Salt on skin. A city weekend. That first night away when everything feels possible.
The best moments have a way of staying with you.
A song takes you back. A photograph brings it all flooding in. And scent can put you there in seconds.
That's where every Olive fragrance starts.
Not with a room or a season, but with a feeling. A place. A mood. A memory. The version of yourself you were when you were there.
We build a whole world around it. The colour, the campaign, the name, the mood and, of course, the scent. Every detail is part of the story.
Some worlds feel like sun on skin and nowhere to be. Others are getting ready with the music too loud, drinks that turn into dinner, or staying somewhere you never really wanted to leave.
Because we don't just want Olive to smell good.
We want it to take you somewhere.
Different worlds. Same sense of escape.
scent takes you somewhere.
There's something about scent that nothing else can quite do.
One second you're at home. The next you're back on holiday, in a hotel you loved, getting ready for a night out, or remembering a person you haven't thought about in years.
No plane ticket. No photograph. Just a smell, and suddenly you're there.
That's what we love about fragrance.
It doesn't just make a room smell good. It changes how a space feels. It can shift your mood, become part of a ritual and turn an ordinary moment into one you remember.
Which is why we don't start with rooms.
We start with the feeling.
Where are we going? What time is it? What are we wearing? What's playing? Who's there? What do we want this moment to feel like?
Then we create the fragrance that belongs there.
Because for us, scent has never just been about making somewhere smell nice.
It's about making you feel somewhere else.
Light it. Go somewhere.
made with meraki.
Look closely and you'll find the word meraki on every Olive candle.
It's a Greek word with no exact English translation. It means to put something of yourself into what you make. Your love, your energy, your creativity, your soul.
We loved it because that's exactly how Olive has been built.
Every fragrance, colour, name, campaign and tiny detail has been thought about, obsessed over and made with a little piece of us in it.
It's also a quiet nod to the Greek and Cypriot influence that has been part of Olive from the very beginning.
You might not notice it straight away.
But it's there on every candle.
A little bit of meraki, always.
good looking. good standards.

London ideas. British made.
Olive starts in East London.
It's where the ideas happen. The fragrances, the colours, the campaigns, the worlds we want to create and the probably-too-many conversations about exactly the right shade of pink.
Then we work with brilliant British makers to bring those ideas to life.
Making Olive in Britain was a decision we made from the beginning. As we grow beyond candles and into a bigger fragrance-led lifestyle world, we want British manufacturing to grow with us.
It means keeping production closer to home, building relationships with the people behind our products and supporting the skills and craftsmanship that exist here in the UK.
We're proud to be officially Made in Britain, but even prouder that making things here has been part of the plan from day one.
Dreamed up in London. Made in Britain. Going places.
